Alpha Gamma Delta

Delta Alpha Chapter at University of Southern California

Academics

We realize our members are students first, and we want to see them succeed academically. As a Fraternity, we provide education to our scholarship officers on utilizing campus resources for academic assistance and encourage them to consistently evaluate their chapter’s activities in order to make sure the member experience is fostering an environment that champions academic success.  Learn more

Scholarship

At Alpha Gamma Delta, we pride ourselves on academic excellence. Our chapter is committed to academic achievement individually and as a whole. We have programs in place to ensure that our Alpha Gams are shining in the classroom, including:

Weekly study hours at the house
Online database of majors and minors to ease in forming study groups
Study groups based on majors and minors
Note bank and study guide database to aid in preparing for upcoming exams
Weekly “Squirrel Scholar” drawings, a weekly drawing where Alpha Gams who earned A’s on tests, papers, or projects are entered into a raffle to for gift cards to places like Victoria’s Secret and Starbucks
Study snacks during finals week and study days, prepared by our House Mother LuWanna and Chef Mary

If one of our sisters is struggling academically, we help her. Our Vice President of Scholarship will work with her to increase her grades by formulating an improvement plan and connecting her with appropriate resources to aid in her success. It is paramount to us that each Alpha Gam leaves school with what she came for – a degree.

In 2015, Delta Alpha won the award for Most Improved GPA in the Panhellenic Community. This past semester alone, we were able to increase our GPA by nearly one point and we now have one of the highest GPAs in the Panhellenic community.

Alpha Gam strongly believes that successful scholarship is an essential part of sorority life. Alpha Gams celebrate their academic successes and form close relationships with distinguished faculty and administrators at our biannual Scholarship Banquet. Awards and prizes are given and we listen to inspiring speeches from keynote speakers. In the past, we’ve had the honor of hosting Dr. Lynette Merriman, USC’s Assistant Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Support and Advocacy and a Delta Alpha alumna.

Additionally, each semester Alpha Gams study abroad in amazing places like London, the Netherlands, Paris, Australia, Scotland, and Singapore – just to name a few!
